What Marco Andresini says about his book
Ii - Il filo e le perle
By Marco Adresini, goldsmith
The "jewel" I have built is a metaphor of a pearl necklace: the milestones of an alien travel kept together by the string of an
I who crosses them; and Ii (in Latin: I went) is the book title.
The shape of the book was borne almost by itself: originated by the metaphor, not by the written words.
"A kind of dialogue between to say and to do", as I explain to Constance, the girl friend found again after so many
years, who, when young, was the writing mate of a quite different tale. She gets the book: a closed necklace is shown on the
cover; its right side is folded on itself. She unfolds it and discovers a new drawing: an open necklace. It invites her to wear
it and to understand the significance of any single pearl.
"Then I will hang your book on my neck!" she jokes while taking my gift.
